Chinese and Soviet troops attempt to contain the invasion, but are overwhelmed by the appearance of the Laser-class BETA, which eliminate human air attacks. January, 2002: At some point, Takeru is pulled mentally and bodily into the Unlimited timeline.ДЎ958: A probe on Mars sees an unidentified object that is later determined to be humanityвЂ™s first contact with the BETA.ДЎ967: The BETA reach the Moon, war breaks out.ДЄpril 19, 1973: The BETA make their first landing on Earth, near Kashgar in western China. November, 2001: A future version of Takeru briefly visits the Extra timeline (see Alternative Timeline). This kicks off a romantic rivalry between the two, as well as several other classmates. October 22, 2001: Muv-Luv Extra: Takeru Shirogane wakes to find wealthy heiress Meiya Misturugi in his bed, to the shock of next door neighbor Sumika Kagami. September-October, 2001: The events of Akane Maniax take place. This means that any events prior to his return point - Octotake place in both timelines, including the beginning of this story, which starts in May, 2001.ДЎ998: The events of the first part of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien ( Rumbling Hearts) take place.ДЄpril-September, 2001: The later events of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien take place. The protagonist of the visual novels, Takeru Shirogane, is introduced in Extra, is then pulled into the Unlimited timeline, and later goes back in time and changes history, thereby creating the Alternative timeline. The Extra timeline is our own world, while Unlimited and Alternative take place on an Earth that has been invaded by aliens called the вЂњBETAвЂќ (вЂњBeings of Extra-Terrestrial Origin which are an Adversary to humanityвЂќ). Resonative is intended to be the conclusion of The Day After, and there are enough mysteries that IвЂ™m looking forward to how it all wraps up вЂ“ especially when it comes to certain returning characters.The Muv-Luv franchise takes place across several different timelines, as established in the original visual novel trilogy: Muv-Luv Extra, Muv-Luv Unlimited, and Muv-Luv Alternative. Muv-Luv Resonative, aka The Day After Episode 04, was announced around the same time they confirmed the localization of Episodes 00-03. There are some good twists and turns, too.Д«ut itвЂ™s not over yet! Episode 03 doesnвЂ™t actually conclude the story, even though itвЂ™s been 8 years since it first came out in Japan.

Little moments of humor helped me grow to love the new cast of characters as I followed them through traumatic experiences, political scheming, and everything else we expect from a Muv-Luv story. The premise is bleak as can be, but The Day After isnвЂ™t without its lighter moments. There are some little oddities (for example, the log wouldnвЂ™t work properly the first time I started an episode, only after I quit and reloaded once), but overall I found it to be a fine experience. All together, therefore, The Day After ends up being a moderate length. Each episode is of moderate length IвЂ™d say the main three episodes are each around 5-10 hours long depending on how fast you read, with Episode 00 being a little shorter. ItвЂ™s a kinetic novel, so there arenвЂ™t any choices to make. The main story follows Hibiki, a TSF pilot who survived a trek across the ravaged continent and now finds himself the leader of a new team trying to help Japan (and humanity) survive. And surprise! It didnвЂ™t even wipe out the BETA completely.
